Gerald specialises in global institutional investment management, consulting & advisory services with 30+ years of experience as a VP (UBS, PaineWebber, Riggs National Bank, etc.) Chief Investment Officer, Corporate Director & Advisor. Gerald has worked with a prestigious Washington, DC, USA-based not-for-profit organization (UNCF, Inc.,) a multi-billion dollar Ivy League university, other smaller & mid-sized universities, a large, multilateral, multi-billion euro, Geneva, Switzerland-based not-for-profit research entity (CERN), sub-advised on a major Canadian pension plan, and served on various boards, including a hedge fund and a multi-company insurance group among others. Gerald remains active through publications, memberships, directorships, multiple US & global speaking engagements - i.e., N. America, S. America, Europe, Middle East, Australasia, Caribbean - plus other miscellaneous affiliations.
Gerald has solid, multi-year experience, over 30+ years, with major, global financial institutions in for-profit markets, as well as with US-based, higher-education, non-profit organisations. Gerald currently serves as a Board Trustee, and most recently [Effective: 8 December 2024] was appointed as Chief Investment Officer, to National Public Pension Fund Association (NPPFA). Gerald is also an Advisor to a global securities law firm. Historically, Mr. Chen-Young served as a cofounding member of the RF Kennedy Human Rights Leadership Council. Mr. Chen-Young has also served as a Special Advisor to an official Ambassador. Gerald currently serves as a Director of the fully-integrated, global insurance fund and serves as a Board Member and Chair of the related Investment Committee to a Chicago-based group of insurance companies.
Gerald has received multiple awards, nominations, etc., from top-class global institutions in investment management. Gerald was awarded the prize for "Thought Leadership" (Institutional Investor), was nominated twice for "Endowment & Foundations CIO of the Year" (aiCIO Power 100 List), best practices involving good governance, advisory services & risk-adjusted results.
Gerald holds post-graduate degrees in Law (JD & LLM) as well as in Economics (BA, Dip. Econ. & MA.). Gerald also holds certificates in Basic Cuisine & Basic Pastry from Le Cordon Bleu Paris.
Gerald's hobbies include cuisine, equestrian, SCUBA diving and reading.
